The inaugural 2013 Women’s Porter Cup Invitational will be staged at the Niagara Falls Country Club
The inaugural edition of the Women’s Porter Cup Invitational will be staged at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York, from June 12 to 14, 2013.
The announcement of the Women’s Porter Cup Invitational is lauded by many, as it will allow the female amateur players to come forward and participate in one of the prestigious events in the region.
The Porter Cup has the history of featuring the men amateurs and seniors for the past 54 years. The 55th edition of the Men’s Porter Cup will be played from July 24 to 27, 2013. The Senior Porter Cup will be held in September.
While making the announcement for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Porter Cup Invitational, Steve Denn, the Porter Cup's tournament director, confirmed that the event will be played in three rounds, without a cut point.
In addition to that, around 60 players from different parts of the world will be invited to participate in the stroke-play event.
According to the golf commentators, the tournament will help the local female players to contend against some of the best amateurs around the world.
Denn said that the Niagara Falls Country Club has the history of promoting the game of golf in the region. She also expressed his pleasure provide another opportunity to the club officials to further enhance the image of the game.
“Annually hosting the Porter Cup and Senior Porter Cup, the Niagara Falls Country Club has a long and distinguished association with competitive amateur golf,” Denn said, who is a premier figure in the world of golf.
“By adding the Women’s Porter Cup, we are reaffirming our commitment to the amateur’s place in the game while providing a hospitable venue for the world’s best female players to showcase their talent,” he added.
It is observed that the staging of the Men’s Porter Cup and the Senior Porter Cup provide a boost to the local economy.
Therefore, one can expect more business to come in the region, as more golf lovers will visit the Niagara Falls Country Club, in order to watch their favourite players playing live on the course.
