The injured Sitting Volleyball Team Captain on her way to recovery
The Captain of Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team of USA, Kendra Lancaster, who met an accident on last Saturday, is on her way to fast recovery.
The unpleasant event happened in Morgan Country, Indiana, while Lancaster received heavy bruises but fortunately they were not life-threatening. Her car was crashed and she was immediately taken to the hospital in critical conditions. The Methodist Hospital
in Indianapolis provided the medical treatment and medications to the injured player. Initially, she was fainted but came to conscious after proper aid. She was shortly joined by her family after the accident happened.
As of Tuesday, Lancaster’s condition was remarkably improved. According to the recent news, she is on her way to fast recovery. The family and friends are taking special care of her in the hospital. She has also started taking healthy diet and will be out
of bed soon.
The 24-year old Lancaster joined the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team in 2004. She is a great player and has earned a great name during her tenure at the U.S. squad. She has been known for her extraordinary skills and that is what made her lead the team
in captain’s shoes.
Kendra is regarded as the two-time Paralympic medallist. Moreover, she was part of the U.S. team which settled for bronze-ware at the 2004 Beijing Paralympics. Likewise, she played an instrumental role in bringing the silver medal to country in 2008 in Beijing.
Following the success of U.S. Women’s Sitting Team in 2010 World Championships at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Lancaster enjoyed huge spotlight. The next year, she was named as the captain of the team.
The head coach of U.S. Women’s Sitting Team, Bill Hamiter was greatly pleased with Lancaster’s performance. On the behalf of whole team, he sent well wishes for her good health. The entire USA Volleyball family was shocked at Kendra’s accident. They sent
their well wishes and prayers for Kendra.
The CEO of USA Volleyball (USAV), Doug Beal said, “We are all hoping and praying for a speedy and complete recovery. Kendra is an enormously important member of our women’s sitting team both on and off the court. She is a fighter and represents all that’s
best about dedication, commitment and spirit within our Paralympic program.”
Lancaster has the prayers of whole volleyball community and she will be back in the court very soon.
