I need help on an essay.

It is.....if you had power to stop one issue, what would it be? I'm doing Global Warming. On one paragraph, I need to explain what are the weaknesses of this issue (in other words, why it might not be the biggest issue or what stops it from becoming a major issue). What are they? PLEASE HELP ME.

BTW, I refute these weaknesses in the next paragraph.

  1. global warming is becomin a major threat however development of nations cannot slow down now.

industrialization is the greatest concern from past to now; pple's lliving standard keeps improving thus many cant afford 2 sacrifice this kind of luxury...

industrialization is a must for humans' sustainence. e.g. though many agricultural activites release large emissions of methane but tat cant be help cos' the world population is growing so demand for food products is increasing non-stop!!

we mus know reality is cruel - all we can do is to invent new mthds by all possible thru scientific research which might take century to come with the most promising solution.

  2. I believe the main issue is the politicization of the problem.  It has become a left versus right thing in the United States; anything Al Gore is presenting must be wrong, think the Republicans.

Also, the changes that need to happen will affect the oil and gas, automotive and manufacturing industries; the right doesn't want to do anything to offend their base.

  3. What you need to look for (google) is scientific data that shows ave global temps over the past 1-2 thousand years. Yes the worlds temps are getting higher, but world temps have rose and fell many times through out history and looking at the data we are only about 1/2 way to the peak ave world temps that have been seen before. I've seen many different graphs and things showing this but as far as a specific web site i'm not sure. (I usually saw it through Stumble Upon or Digg). One thing you may also want to look into is liberal left wing polotics and how they tend to "skew" facts and figurures regarding global warming. Also check into how well the scientist that were in "An Inconvienent Truth" were paid compared to third party scientists doing comparable research. Whatever weaknesses you choose, just be careful where you get you're information. Hating the president is the "cool thing to do" right now and the media is inherently liberal so be sure to use third party sites and nothing that's funded specificly by democracts, or even republicans for that matter. These are what I would choose as weaknesses....

    1. Scientific Data including the amount of gas we would have to produce to actully see a change in green house gasses that is greater than the average increase we've seen for the past 500 yrs.

    2. Politicaly biased reasearch that just happened to come about right before a presidential election (Al Gore's Movie for example)

    3. High profile Dr's and reasearchers opinions that disagree with global warming

  4. Its already a big issue, Its a huge issue.  However, the weaknesses are that we haven't proved that global warming exists, even though everyone knows it exists.

  5. Stopping an issue to my mind is resolving it one way or another.  Either it becomes accepted to the point where necessary and sufficient action is being taken or there is acceptance by experts, organisations and governments that action is not needed.  Global warming is an issue where the experts, organisations and governments are now generally very sure that action is needed but the problem lies in doing this in an equitable way.  So to as you put it stop the issue one has to quickly find a way for everyone to behave in an altruistic way (unlikely) or someone has to find a basic flaw in the science (again unlikely)
