The jockey ride team of Heffernan and So You Think is ready for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
So You Think’s jockey, Seamie Heffernan, is all for getting on the track and racing his ride to victory at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for which he has prepared immaculately and also had recent practice by racing So You Think to victory twice in a row.
First it was at the Sandown in July against last year’s winner, Sir Michael Stoute’s Workforce, and the next one was at Leopardstown in September, with Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy being the runner-up.
The event that has started making news even before beginning is the anxiously awaited Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe which has engaged the attention from all the dimensions of all the contesting candidates.
Heffernan said, "I've only ever ridden him over a mile and a quarter and I've been very happy with him over that trip. The Arc is the Arc and if you don't run them, you don't find out”.
So You Think has raced five times this year till yet out of which he has won four, three with Seamie Heffernan and one with Ryan Moore.
In May this year, So You Think won at the Curragh with five other participants on the track. He won this one against Bob Le Beau who has been trained by Mrs John Harrington and is also contesting in the Arc this season.
In the same month but on the 22nd So You Think was under Ryan Moore when he won the Curragh a second time with Saeed Bin Suroor’s Campanologist coming second under Frankie Dettori.
So You Think’s performance at the last two races with Heffernan is instrumental as it gives an insight to the tactics and objectively targeted practice along with the chemistry that the jockey horse team shares.
This race, if won, would take So You Think and Heffernan to an all different league and would be a hat-trick for the two.
Heffernan said, "Hopefully everything works out. It's the Arc and it's always going to be a big field with very strong competition. The bigger field might help him, but you never know. He's a very good horse, but you still need a bit of luck on your side
and hopefully we get it”.
He understands the intensity of the competition to be countered and has set his aims straight to achieve the victory if everything goes as planned. Even if the team does not get to win they will still learn from the experience at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
