    -keep record of poor performance.

    -have meetings with individuals going over where they need            improvement - give them a fair chance to change their ways.  keep a record of these performance meetings by going over and having them sign a paper that lists your concerns and noting where they need to improve

    -have meetings with others in management, if possible, and the individual to show agreement and unity - make sure they sign their &quot;employee evaluation&quot; each time you meet.

    -then after giving proper chances, if they continue, termination - let them know that the position may not be a proper fit for them.

    But #1 - Documentation to prove that they were given proper notice of your expectations and their lack of meeting them.  Protect yourself so you are able to terminate when you need to and can stick by it - and you know that you gave them every opportunity to make the best of their situation.
