  1. I have the same problem with my ponds here in Texas because of the drought then rain.

The suggetion I found was to put "Barley Balls" in it.  You can find these on ebay. After looking at them you might be able to make them yourself.

  2. Unfortunately once blue green algae gets into a body of water it is extremely hard to get rid of it.

My only suggestion is to rinse off any boats, kayaks, dogs, etc after being in the water- that way you reduce the chance of spreading the algae to surrounding bodies of water.

    Good luck!

  3. Me too.  The problem is with the people who live on the lake.  They all have healthy, lush green lawns that are 100% weed-free.  That's a clear sign that tons of chemicals are making it to the lake and ruining the PH.  What's even worse is that half of that green lawn is from the city park department.

I honestly don't think it'll ever change.  The lake neighborhood does the blame game (must be the geese or po-folk dumpin' stuff).  Then they spend our tax dollar to dump even MORE chemicals to unsuccessfully fix it.  Sheesh!
