Question:

The law is totally messed up

It has just been on the radio that you now can be sentenced to up to 7 years in jail for using a mobile phone whilst driving.

Strange considering that rapists, murderers and paedos can be out in less than 5 years.

The whole justice system needs to be overhauled, Who are these people that make up these ridiculous laws? IMO they should all be flogged by the victims of rape and relatives of murder victims.

Your thoughts please.

  1. The  authorities  have  declared  war  on  its  own  population,  as  have  every  other  country  in   the  world,  just  check  your  gas,  food  and  utility  bills.  Now  they  want  us  to  go  to  war  for  them,  that  makes sense.  Give me  a  gun  and  they  better  watch  out.  THAT'S  A  PROMISE.

  2. I have mixed opinions really, my mother was killed by a teenage driver and the teenager got 9 points and a years ban, so no justice there. However murderers rapists etc especially ones involving children should be publicly named and shamed before they are used for medical research like drug testing and pioneering treatements, then at least some use would have come from their sorry lives.

  3. I totally agree with you on this one

  4. The law is totally messed up. They fine you and put you in jail for the little things when you can get away with the terrible crimes and then they say that the prisons are too full so let them all go!!!

You cant even get a policeman when you need one. If you want to prevent a crime and call the police they tell you that they cant come unless an actual crime has been committed but surely prevention is better!?!?!!!

I do believe that a stronger punishment than a fine is needed when someone causes death whilst on the phone driving but it has to be in relation to other crimes or a similar nature.

  5. Sounds like they're trying to make a point by upping the ceiling limit on the sentence.

It's scare tactics and I think the likelihood is it wouldn't be reached unless you were a repeat offender and you'd just ran over and killed a small child.

However, i'm sure it's nothing that couldn't have been achieved by adjusting the fine and point deduction, or threatening you with one of those driving courses for the drunk or stupid.

  6. It does seem rather strange that you can commit murder and be out in less time than some people sentanced for things like talking on the phone!

I k now they are trying to make a point but it seems silly not to increase other sentances!

i think we are in need of mandatory sentances for certain crimes and when they say 25 years it IS 25 years and not just 5!

our justice system makes no sense sometimes!

i kinda like the thought of the victims families of crimes such as rape and murder deciding the punishment......... dont think it would ever happen tho!

  7. You're right there. It's laws made by people not living in the real world. They don't have the insight or intelligence to fight the 'real' crime - rapes, stabbings, killings etc, so they pussyfoot around with things like mobiles whilst driving, overflowing bins and the like.

It's just to look tough on crime, when in reality they don't even jail people who kill whilst driving! They'll continue to fine people as another way of getting in the revenue to fight useless wars and give to people who can't be arsed working!

  8. This sounds like a situation where the person who is responsible for making the laws had a personal experience in their family where a family member was killed by someone driving while talking on cell phone.  It is terrible that rapists, murderers and pedophiles get less jail time than a person causing an accident while on a cell.

  9. Yes, that's just a complete joke.

  10. Because we have Labour as a government, but also because talking on the phone whilst driving can and has caused people to die. I think pontentially causing someone's death should have a longer sentance than something like rape. Though I agree that someone with common sense needs to re-write the whole system of punishments.

  11. That is totally messed up.

  12. I completely agree with you the punishments do not fit the crimes at all.

I worry about all the cases which are brought to court and are chucked out for say lack of evidence? The amount of people who get away with crime is hugh.

I often wonder what kind of society my children are being brought up in?

  13. Just follow the rules & you have nothing to worry about

  14. The government (enemy of the people of the UK) is progressively manipulating the legal system towards a new role of extortion from and control of Middle England.

Emphasis is placed on breaches of regulations and 'crimes' of negligence as these generate revenue. The threat of a prison sentence will encourage those who are entrapped to pay a hefty fine. Failure to adequately control genuine crime creates insecurity within the country, thereby enabling draconian legislation to be passed for the 'common good'. eg 42 days detention without charge and much loosely drafted legislation that is vulnerable to subjective interpretation by prosecutors and judges.
