The legendary racing course Mile High Greyhound Park dog track will be pulled down.
The city of Commerce City located in Adams Country, Colorado, United States, is known for greyhound racing, held at the historical racecourse, the Mile High Greyhound Park Dog Track.
This track has also been used as a soccer stadium in the mid 1990’s. This race track has played a major role over 50 years in setting a trend of greyhound racing.
Greyhound racing fans have enjoyed many thrilling events. As the gates of the arena opens, excitement and enthusiasm is felt by the spectators, in the environment.
The famous track was opened in 1949 in Commerce City and for 60 years it has been managing live racing events for the greyhound racing fans. This live entertainment ended back in 2008.
At its ultimate position, the stadium had two bars and three restaurants, which were famous by the name of, “The Big Store.”
The historical greyhound race track, has been sold out to the Mile High USA and Mile High Kennel Club Inc, for $ 3.3 million.
Mile High Greyhound Park dog track was a major breakthrough for the Commerce City. According to the people of Commerce City, it will take a lot of time for the property to redefine its individuality.
As said by the officials of Commerce City, they will come up with a good idea for Mile High till May 2012 and make the place a center of activity again.
The officials of Commerce City have announced that, they will start their work in redeveloping the Mile High Greyhound Park dog track, and they will put all urban renewal efforts, to make this place Commerce City’s identity as it was before.
Centerra developer McWhinney has announced that, along with the demolition of Mile High dog track, the 56-year-old Cloverleaf Kennel Club, at Interstate 25 and U.S 34 in Loveland, which provided an out class entertainment for the greyhound racing fans, will
be flattened.
McWhinney has signed the contract worth $1.2 million, with the LVI Environmental Services in Denver, for the demolishment of Cloverleaf, whereas the owner of Cloverleaf property Poudre Valley Health System has, no construction plans yet.
Greyhound racings were not the only event scheduled in this historical place, numerous graduation ceremonies for, Adams City High School also took place there.
In September, for the development of Mile High Greyhound Park Dog Track, many community meetings are scheduled.
