Question:

The light inside a fridge not a stupid question trust me?

ive just noticed the light in my fridge has a switch on it that can change the way the light works in one position the light goes fully off when the button the door presses is fully pressed but in the other position when the button is fully pressed the light changed from fully bright to dimmed why would i want a light inside the fridge when i cant see through the door?

  1. How can we tell you much if you don't tell us brand, type, model or even age?

    It could be that the dim light is being used as a heater to keep the thermostat cycling if you put it in a room or garage where it gets down to refrigerator temperature. This keeps it running in cold temps and keeps the freezer section frozen.

    I have seen thermostats with that function like that with a heater to trip them but not a light. But they do put the light near the thermostat for a reason.



    But I have never seen a switch like that.


  2. Sounds like your switch is broken and making some minimal contact in the off position, or it is connected to the lights for the water dispenser.

  3. Its like that so that you can lock small children or animals in the fridge and they wont be afraid of the dark
