  1. Remember the ways in which heat energy is transferred from one place to another?  Convection, conduction and radiation?

    A vacuum flask attempts to minimize the transfer of heat.

    The 'vacuum' bit deals with convection and conduction.

    A silvered mirror surface tends to reflect radiated heat back to where it came from.
