  1. Stay away from all products made by Maple Leaf Foods; so far, they have recalled 23 different items.

"Symptoms of listeriosis are often flu-like and can include nausea, vomiting, cramps, diarrhea, high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, constipation and persistent fever.

Symptoms usually appear within two to 30 days, but it can take up to 90 days to get sick after someone has eaten contaminated food."

  2. Check ALL of your lunch meat products. NOT JUST MAPLE LEAF meats.  If there is a 97B anywhere near the expiry date, pitch it.  If you bought the meat at a deli and the meat is no longer in the original package and you are unsure whether it is Maple Leaf, Sneiders, Shopsy's or Sure Slice meats, throw it away.  All of the products that were packaged at the North York, Ontario plant have now been recalled (as of this morning, Aug 25) so better safe than sorry by getting rid of all of your lunch meat, not just the turkey, beef, and others that were listed as the 23 products recalled.
