It seems like your video card isn't good enough for Word 2003. I recommend getting a better one. But you may have a good enough one but your direct x verson isnt good enough. here are a couple websites for really cheap, really nice video cards. i have a 256 MB ram video card, for what your probably use your computer for i would get a 128 MB ram video card, that could range from 20$ to 60$

This icons are usually become available if you have used some commands to enable it. For example, the Copy command will not be active you haven't highlighted any text in you document.If you have selected a text, the copy should be active. Then the Paste will only be active if you have copied something.

Every function or command on the Microsoft Word has a particular use of it and will only be available if you have selected the right procedure to use it.
