I'm positive your very confused on this one! mercury makes outboard boat motors, in which case it's in the lower unit, if it's an IO / inboard outboard, it's powered by a chevy with mercury logos on the valve cover/s with a mercury out drive, which the water pump is in the out drive, however the mercury marine corp. did make the engine for the callaway corvette, yes mercury and gm are in bed together, they use ford engines in the marine industry for anchors


  2. Hey buster bendem, YOU are very confused. Mercury, the parent company of Mercruiser, used ford V8s for a number of years, 1976 included.  If you have a M-MR drive, the waterpump is in the lower gearcase.  If you have a TR, bravo, or inboard, the "seapump" is located on the front of the motor, starboard side.
