The lone RPD, 29 guns confirmed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 revealed – Sniper Rifles & HMGs – Part 3
After learning about the return of the MP5 Sub Machine Gun, the G36C Assault Rifle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as well as the exclusion of the M16 and FAL, Bettor.com would now like to share with readers what they can expect on the Heavy Machine Gun
and Sniper Rifle front.
Oddly enough, it seems that only one Heavy Machine Gun (HMG) has been spotted in all of the single player campaign and multiplayer trailers. This does not mean that there will only be one HMG for players to choose from, but it means at this point it is the
only one confirmed to be in the game.
The RPD is another weapon fans of the series should feel right at home with. The weapon was available for players to use early on and while it was simple enough to use, it was a challenge to master. Combining the weapon with the ‘Stopping Power’ perk turned
the weapon into one of the deadliest weapons in the game.
However, the amount of time it took to reload the weapon put it at a significant disadvantage. While the M249 SAW, M60 and other HMGs have not made an appearance yet, the chances of them making it into the final game are fairly high.
Moving on from weapons that fire hundreds of rounds to weapons that take just one bullet to kill their target. The Sniper Rifles have always been loved by those who have the skill to use it and hated by those who are picked off from a distance without a
clue as to how they ended up on the floor.
The Barrett .50Cal is a beast of a sniper rifle, boasting the largest calibre round in the game coupled with the fact that it is a semi-automatic; the weapon is not to be taking lightly. While less experienced players will empty a clip into their target
hoping for a kill, the weapon is more effective if the sniper takes his time with each shot.
Another semi-automatic sniper rifle is the M14EBR, though in essence it is simply a rifle with a scope attached. The weapon’s strong point is the fact that it is lethal at medium range sniping, as the weapon loses its power as the distance to the target
increases.
Expect to see the weapon used in medium sized maps and players should be warned, the EBR can be just as deadly when blind firing as it is when the shooter is looking through the scope.
A new weapon to the Modern Warfare series is the RSASS. While it looks similar to the Barret .50Cal will its freely suspended barrel, the weapon will surely have its own unique feel. Lighter than the .50Cal in real life, the sniper should allow players to
be more mobile.
It seems SlegdeHammer seem to fancy semi-automatic sniper rifles as opposed to the old fashioned, classy bolt action weapons. This may be down to the renewed sense of keeping the game up-to-date as the semi automatics are the modern sniper rifles.
Yet, it must be said, that the bolt action sniper rifles in Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 had a charm of their own, so let us cross our fingers in hope that the Intervention is announced later on.
