  1. Blu Ray is an HD format for DVDs. It will not work in a standard DVD player because it requires a special Blu Ray player. The Sony PlayStation 3 has a Blu Ray player built in as do some laptops. Also, Blu Ray players only work with HDTVs. Therefore, Blu Ray discs will not work on old TVs or standard definition televisions. Even if you update a standard definition TV with a converter box, this will not allow it to play Blu Ray discs. This will only allow it to receive a digital signal for local channels.

  2.   One big difference is that Blur-Ray can hold up to 50gb whereas a regular DVD holds only 4.7 gb and double that if it is a double layer disc.
