  1. Spores - D

Unlike seeds, spores are haploid, meaning they have only 1/2 the DNA necessary for sexual reproduction. They will germionate in the right conditions, sending out very fine "rootlet" growths called hyphae. In mass, they form a "mycelium". When a haploid (monokaryotic) mycelium encounters hyphal filaments belonging to the same species, they fuse together (underground, under bark, or wherever they are getting their nutrients). Each cell from that point on will carrying 2 (or more!) nuclei in each of the mycelium's cells. These dikaryotic cells are capable of producing the fruiting body of a fungus which then produces more haploid spores. This fruit body is what people refer to as "mushrooms, polypores, boletes, puffballs", etc.

  2. d. Spores.
