The mattress brackets

Question

Hi my husband and i are putting together the crib and we cannot get the mattrees bottom attached to the crib itself. We are putting the brackets on like the manual says but it appears to be too big. It will not fit into the holes on the inside. We have the simplicity ellis 4 in 1. Thank you for any help you can offer us.
