  1. I am not sure what you are asking.  Sugar beets and sugar cane can both exceed 18% sucrose in the field.  I beleive sweet corn on the ear can run about 8% while the cob will be less than 1% sucrose.  Field corn has less sugar tha sweet corn.  Sorghum is another relatively high sugar crop.  

    A crop like alfalfa that is higher in protein will usually contain a maximum of about 3% sucrose.  This peaks as the plant comes into full bloom and markedly decreases after that.  At seed set the plant will be less than 1% free sugar.

    If you are asking about the maximum sucrose that will stay in solution in water it is something over 50%.  Molasses in a sugar factory for instance is 85 to 88% solids but that is not all sugar.

  3. I don&#039;t think there is a maximum, unless you are talking about saturation.

  4. Although sucrose may begn in irrigation materials, it will quickly be broken down by organisms in the soil.
