I thought it meant " I want you" but most people are saying that it actually means "I love you" which I thought that was "te amo".

  1. Yeah, it means "I want you"

  2. they are both ways of saying I Love You but it really depends on how you use it here is a forum link that kinda discusses it.    http://forums.about.com/ab-spanish/messa...

  3. Yes, it means I want you. :D

  4. It means I want you technically but you can use it like I love you.  It isn't quite as strong as "te amo"

  5. In latin countries, te quiero is a term for i love you that shows great appreciation, but is not as intense as "te amo" which is in love love.

literally it does mean "i want you" but when a person says it to another, it means they hold them dear to their hearts but are not in love with them.

you say te quiero to a new boyfriend and i love you when you have been together for a while...

it depends of the use: te quiero ver - i want to see you.

te quiero, amigo - i love you, friend

te amo, mi amor - i love you, my love

  6. It literally means "I want you" when you translate it, but it's used colloquially to mean "I love you". And you're right- "te amo" also means "I love you". So you actually have two ways to say it in Spanish.

  7. you are right te quiero means i want you and te amo means i love you

  8. Just like in english there is more than one way to say I love you... like I care for you, You have my heart.

In spanish the word quiero in is want, but when paired with te it becomes an "expression" as in i love you, but is word for word translated as "to want".

Te amo is much the same the word amo alone is actually the word for master but by putting te in front it also becomes an expression!

Need any more help google has a free translation service...

    Hope I helped!!

  9. the translation literaly means; I WANT YOU.

but some spanish speakers use the expresion "Te quiero" to really mean:  I love you , but in a lower level...it would be like:...I like you...I almost love you.

    ca pice?

  10. I love you - Te quiero

  11. when a person says te quiero its saying i want you or can also mean i love you but in that friendly way. where as te amo is more like being in love. A more intimate way.

  12. i love you  and also te amo is french i love you

  13. I have a feeling for you that still is not love.

te amo - i love you

    te quiero - appreciate, care

    me gustas - like you

  14. Literally: I want you

But it is used to say "I love you"

  15. It means "i love you" if you say it to a relative or friend.

It also means "i want you".

  16. It means I want you. You are correct.  Te amo means I love you.

Maybe Te quiero is "I love you" in SLANG......Quiero DOES NOT mean to love in Spanish.  It's the Yo form of want.  Quiere-"to want".

  17. Te quiero = I want you (literally translated, but us spanish speakers use it as a way to say i LIKE you but not LOVE you.)

Te amo = I love you
