The mighty Godolphin operation
To make the Godolphin brand go global, there is hardly anything left that the Vice President of the UAE and the Maktoum family has not attempted, it ranges from buying the most influential racing string in Australia from the Ingham family, to deploying the
star Italian jockey, Frankie Dettori. It has the world famous stables at Dubai and Newmarket.
Operating such widespread facility and keeping up with the bench mark was not possible without extending the UAE family. For example, His Highness’ principal trainer in Australia is Peter Snowden. His domestic key trainers are the two Emiratis, Mahmood Al
Zarooni and Saeed Bin Suroor.
His frame of world-class jockeys now includes Silvestre De Sousa and Mickael Barzalona.
The latest addition to the enviable string of horses is, Dawn Approach, who is currently being trained by Jim Bolger, and was quick to prove himself by winning the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket. The owner has decided that at least for the juvenile
year, the colt will stay with the same trainer and later the transition to the domestic UAE trainers can be considered.
Simon Crisford, Godolphin's racing manager, said: "We are delighted Dawn Approach will race for Godolphin and look forward to seeing him race at the highest level throughout his career."
"It is fantastic how well New Approach has started his stallion career and Dawn Approach appears to have inherited many of his qualities." Simon Crisford, Godolphin's racing manager, said: "We are delighted Dawn Approach will race for Godolphin and look
forward to seeing him race at the highest level throughout his career."
The only contention that remains in the horse racing industry for the racing facility is the rift with the Coolmore stables.
With growth, the policies of the mighty operation have also moderated. There was a time when any trainer other than the Emiratis could not race the under charges in the royal blues of the banner, and today, Peter Snowden comes down from Australia with his
horses from the Darley stud to race in the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Such changes and flexibilities only get the already prosperous grow bigger and better.
