Most of my family is against the idea of me joining the Marines? I don’t think that I’m wasting my life, but what do you think? I’m I wasting my life or not?

  1. The real question is what do YOU think. It's your life. I spent 20 years in the Army and never regretted the decision I made.

  2. I got a pension when I was 42. I retired then and there.

    Do you know how many other kids from my highschool class were retired when I got my pension? None.

    Five years later, at a high school reunion, I was still the only guy who was living on a pension. Everyone else was still working for a living.

    I get to spend time with our children. I get to go snow skiing while I am still young enough to snow ski.

    Go ahead work your but off until your 65, then we will see what shape your in when you retire.

    I served 20 years in the Navy.

  3. Absolutely not. The Marines will provide you with training that you will use for the rest of your life. Your family is afraid for your safety.

  4. Look at it like this: If you join the Corps and choose not to make it a career, what do you think would look better on a resume'; dead end job somewhere or Marine Corps? LOT more people will respect you a whole lot more as a person for joining the service in this time of war. Good luck to you!

  5. That's up to you decide.  Are you willing to die for your country?

    Wasting your life?  Not unless you choose to do nothing with it afterwards.  If they won't be supportive of you, there are plenty of Americans who would be proud of you for defending our country.

  6. My answers are in reverse;

    2) No

    1) Thank you for your Noble Decision to serve your country. You will get training, discipline, learn true meaning to Honor and Respect. How to work in different size teams, and hopefully a Free education for your service. People who serve their country deserve more. You have made the choice of the Brave.

    Good Luck to You, my American Brother of another.

  7. There is something different about a man that will run towards danger to protect his family, his friends, and even strangers. Not every man possesses the moral courage to swear an oath and then live by that oath. If that is your choice, you are not crazy. You are different and courageous. You should have a deep sense of pride in the fact that you are not average. GO FOR IT!

  8. No. Absolutely not. I joke about the jar-heads a lot because I was a swabby, but I have great respect for the corps. Besides that, it is only a small part of your life. Ray Kroc was fifty years old when he started McDonald's.

  9. The Marine Corps was the best thing that happened to me.  You will be a better person for being a Marine.  Plus after you get out you get money for school, VA health care, and looks d**n good on a resume.

  10. you do what is best for you not for anyone else. i dont think so. my husband and i are both in the navy and lots of other fam in other branches. when everyone first goes in there is always people talking down to you putting their two sense in but its part of the military life. keep your head up and just put your foot down with them. if they truly love you they will be there for you in the long run.
