The most dangerous province in Afghanistan?

What is the most dangerous state or province (whatever it is called) in Afghanistan?

I heard Helmand province was one of the most dangerous but maybe Kandahar or Kabul? Where does most of the fighting take place? Or is it all over Afghanistan?

Are there any safer places in Afghanistan? If so please state.

Most of Afghanistan is safe.  Which is why you only read about a few places in the news.

Helmand and Kandahar are the area where the Taliban are strong.  Kunar is located right near the tribal areas and is where the base that the US had was almost overran the other week.

Fighting in Herat out to the West has picked up a little recently.  But the provinces in the north, northeast, and west are mostly the safest.  They do not have many or any Pashtuns in them.  Pashtuns were the ethnic group that dominated and still dominate the ranks of the Taliban

Dangerous to WHOM? Need to be a bit more specific. If you mean dangerous for AFGHANS, then any area/province where there are American soldiers, looking to use them for target practice, with bombs, shells or bullets.

If you mean dangerous to NON-AFGHANS then who cares? Shouldn't be there in the first place--unless invited. Hope this helps.

Dunno rest of country but Khyber isn't safe...

If u try Khyber Restaurant on Pasthunistan Square at Kabul u will "taste" what I mean ; they use really "fatal" spices. So deadly ..

p.s : don't forget carry a "gatt" at least, for defend yourself against waiters  :)

To be honest it doesn't matter where in the country you are posted, if your there as part of a 6 month tour, your going to come across pockets of resistence, it could be 150 insurgents, or 5 drunk pissed off farmers angry at us or the americans blowing up there buildings during a conflict, any encounter is possible out there, dont even think for 1 second that anywhere is 'safe' you could be shot dead by a 12 year old girl, keep your eyes open all the time whenon patrol, im assuming your already in the military? im signing up for the kings royal hussars, what regiment you with i might be able to shed some light on what our where your most likely to be posted, as ive done a h**l of alot of research

There is plenty of fighting all over Afghanistan,  and most of it is reli dangerouse, the Australian SASR and Commandos are there clearing out all sorts of Fortified posititions and have just recently captured an extreamely high ranked Terrorist, "WHO DARES WINS!!!!"

Helmand province is usually credited as being the most dangerous province in Afghanistan. UK Troops are going a splendid job there despite that fact. Hope to join you guys there soon!
