Question:

The most durable gloves?

Hi there golfers. In your experience, what have been the most durable, long-lasting golf gloves (brand and name please)? My dad's gloves always wear out quickly in the palm area, so gloves that you have found in your experience to be especially durable in the palm area would be great (I want to get him some new gloves :D). Thanks so much! All answers appreciated!

  1. I agree with Chimpotl.  Wearing out gloves in the palm area is a sign one isn't gripping the club correctly.  It may take longer that 15 minutes.  He also may have the wrong grip size.  If you want a long lasting golf glove  I recently purchased Bionic Golf gloves.  They feel like batting gloves and have pads for arthritis.  If he wears thru those he really has a grip problem.

  2. I use a "generic" glove from USG. Hybri-Tech series. They fit me better and give way less than any of the other gloves i've used. They also let me feel the shot more as well as give me a better grip. I hate gloves that have so much padding that they deaden the shot and i can't tell how i hit it.

  3. Seldom , if ever, do I use a golf glove. If the grips are clean and new and the hands are clean the grip on the club is fine. I will use a glove during inclement weather and find that the same glove is probably more durable than the regular golf glove. I use the Foot-Joy rain glove if my hands are prespiring in the summer. Haven't purchased another glove in six years.

  4. Best I have found are through MasterGrip which I believe is now known as MG golf.  They sell a lot of golf products now, but started with just gloves.  They have different grades the top of line being the Cabretta leather and best of all they are a great value.  About $14.95 US and you get a free one with each one you order.  Look them up on the web, MasterGrip or MG Golf.com they are out of Texas.

  5. I have found the Callaway Warbird gloves to last very long. I could not find them on the golf galaxy website, but they are normally fifteen dollars for two of them.  Not the best looking glove, and get pretty smelly, but I have found them to last the longest out of any glove I have worn.

  6. too add to what chimpotle's said... it doesn't matter what grip he uses, if he's got a death grip on the club, it'll wear the glove out faster.  I have the same thing as your dad, but it took me years to figure out that I should be gripping the club at about a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1-10.  1 being barely holding it and 10 being a strangle hold.

honestly, it won't matter what brand of glove you buy, it'll be up to him to stave off the wear on the palm.  That said, if you look at brands like Nike or Titelist, or FootJoy or Callaway, look for the gloves that have the spandex on the knuckles and other places.  That'll help the fit, and they're very breathable.  Expect to pay anywhere from $12-$19 for a good glove.

  7. Not to come off as a jerk, but 15 minutes with an instructor would make his gloves last a lot longer. Sounds like he is not gripping the club correctly -  it should actually rest in the bottom pads of the fingers gently on the gloved hand. Wear and tear in the grip indicates an incorrect technique.
