I thought of this as I was answering someone elses question. What do you think is the most important skill in volleyball? I say it's movement....what do you say?

(for the record, I don't consider communication a skill, it's a habit but if you do, by all means list it).

  1. Bumping and spiking

  2. The most important skill by far is passing. This includes movement. Without the pass, there is no set and no hit. As a hitter, you have to remember this. You have to work for your hit and to do so, you have to pass. Without the pass, the whole play is done. Setting is also pretty important, except it will be harder to fix if you s***w it up than passing. Spiking is important, but still without the two previous skills, it is obsolete.

Passing includes your footwork, agility(how fast you move and stop), your hand-eye cooridination and basic sense for the game.

If you had 1 skill it would be passing, you can't set without a pass, you can't hit without a pass.

Other than that, teamwork, organization, and making noise on the court is also essential.

  3. Ok, all the skills are important. However, if I had to chose one skill for my team to excel at, it would definitely be passing.

Good passing can make bad setters and hitters better.

But if I could chose between having one fantastic passer, setter, or hitter. I would most likely take the setter or hitter. One individual can make more of an impact with those skills.

  4. the most important thing when playing volleyball is definatly passing...just think, without a good pass, volleyball just wouldnt be volleyball...the setter couldnt set and the hitter couldnt hit................it all depends on the PASS!!!!! Also, it actually takes brains and skills to be a LIBERO.......hitting comes naturally to humans...redirecting a moving object does not

***and yes i definatly agree with the movement and agility becasue it is a HUGE part of passing...if you have ever had one of your middle blockers play back row, you know what i mean...it is very un-natural for them and they are big and akward and uncoordinated lol they just look kinda stupid, u know??  no offence middles but its true

***hope i helped and good luck!!!

  5. Spiking is the most important skill in volleyball.

    Have fun

  6. Technically all the skills are important. The game is interdependent on other skills. You need to be able to pass to get it to the setter, the setter needs to be able to set well and the hitter of course should put the ball away. Then there's the serve - the one skill you control from top to bottom (no real reaction from something else). However, the short answer for me is usually two things - a willingness to learn (is that a skill?) and COMMUNICATION - without it the game becomes more difficult. Communication is indeed a skill - in my opinion - because you can habitually talk but say the wrong things. Just my two cents.

  7. I'd say teamwork...this is because even if you are amazing at spiking, you would never be able to spike it if you didnt have and amazing pass from the backrow and an amazing set by the setter!  Volleyball is all about the team!

  8. passing - pass to play

  9. Id say serving, because if a server is really good, they can win the game without another team mate even touching the ball.
