The most optimistic managers in the Premier League this season – part 2
This is the second part of the list honouring the most optimistic managers in the Premier League today.
Avram Grant:
Avram Grant’s inclusion in this list is a no-brainer. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss has a very positive outlook on the future. In fact, Grant is optimistic to a fault. West Ham United currently sit rock bottom in the Premier League standings, a place they have
occupied since the Christmas holidays. However, the Israeli continues to insist that the Hammers will avoid relegation this season. History would suggest that his comments are ridiculous.
Teams which sit at the bottom of the table during the Christmas period are almost surely headed into the lower leagues. Only one club has ever managed to beat ‘The Christmas Curse’ (West Brom in the 2004/05 season), so unless Grant has some sort of a miracle
up his sleeve, it seems as though the Hammers are definitely going under.
Avram Grant though, maintains that he can keep the club in top flight football for another season. West Ham’s recent 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle hardly back up the manager’s claims. The Israeli has said his side will bounce back from the defeat,
but it’s hard to bounce when you don’t jump too high in the first place. The only honour the West Ham manager will win this season is a place in the list of the most optimistic managers in the Premier League.
Harry Redknapp:
Harry Redknapp has every reason to be optimistic. He has done amazing things with Tottenham in the short time he has been with the club. The inspirational manager has transformed the Premier League strugglers into Champions league contenders in the span
of a few seasons. However, the manager is perhaps asking a bit too much from his players in this campaign.
Redknapp insists that his side are genuine contenders for both the Premier League and Champions League crowns. To make things even harder, Spurs are also competing for the F.A cup title. It might prove to be a bit too much for the young team to handle. Clubs
like Chelsea and Arsenal are accustomed to competing for two or three titles at a time. But Harry Redknapp is not used to dealing with a congested fixture list and his players are certainly not hardened to being stretched so thin.
Perhaps the Tottenham manager would do well to lower his expectations a little to ease the pressure on his young charges. Rednapp should consider concentrating on the domestic tournaments. The Champions League should be taken as an opportunity to gain experience
in Europe in order to return even stronger next season. However, if the Spurs manager continues to set his sights on the European crown, he might just burn his players out, which would result in Spurs losing their Champions League spot to Manchester City this
season. But Harry Redknapp believes that you can never aim too high. Perhaps he might shock the world by leading Tottenham to an unlikely treble. If Spurs fail to win a trophy this year, it certainly won’t be due to a lack of ambition.
Harry Redknapp deservedly earns the top spot in this list. Congratulation’s, Mr. Redknapp; you are the most optimistic manager in the Premier League today. Feel free to hang this honour next to your Manager of the Month award.
