Question:

The most painful braces??

I am most likely going to get braces pretty soon and just want to know which types of braces are the best, and which are the most painful.

I would imagine that invisalign would be the most comfortable, would lingual braces,(behind your teeth), be the most painful.

Would Damon braces be the best??

I have crowded teeth and also have a 100% overbite, can this be fixed by Damon braces or any other type or do I need surgery??

Answers appreciated, Thanks.

  2. Hey I have invisalign, I'm on my 3rd day. If you want me to tell you about them I can, it's not what most people think it feels like. Just email me or tell me here and i'll edit my post. ((I didnt want braces))

^^above post: My teeth are pretty crooked and they are treeting me. You really just need to know the right orthodontist. My teeth didnt really fit the match but they said I could do it ayways and just have it a little longer and they may not be totally perfect.

  3. Hello, I have Damon braces.  I have had my top braces since 3/08 and bottom braces since 7/08 (about two weeks).  They were put on at separate times due to my 100% overbite.  The top ones were just kind of uncomfortable at first then they were fine.  The bottom ones were VERY uncomfortable/painful at first BUT it's not unbearable.  Flossing is a pain and as the braces adjust they can cause little sores inside your mouth (from rubbing).  In all honesty they SUCK.... BUT my teeth are going to be beautiful when I get them off so it's totally worth it.

Just be very conscious of what you eat and make sure to rinse and brush each and every time you eat something.  I hope you found this info helpful!!

  4. Metal...they actually dont hurt as bad as ya think!! Just take a couple Advil beforehand. And metal braces are faster than any other. They actually arent that bad!!

  5. Damon Braces by far are known as the most advanced technology of braces, next to Invisalign.

I wouldn't recommend Lingual Braces, they give a more complicated cleaning which can give a higher risk to gingivitis.

a 100% overbite is a deep overbite. and yes, this can be fixed by damon braces,it couldnt even be fixed by conventional braces (braces with rubber bands), but conventional braces would be a longer treatment than damon braces because it is not as advanced.

Depending on how severe or not your crowding is, it varies well depending on if you may need extractions or not. Usually when the mouth is too overcrowded, there isnt enough space to push the teeth into a proper arch alignment, thats when extractions may be needed. Usually the premolars are extracted, sometimes 2 on bottom, or the 2 on top, or even all 4 can be extracted depending on your case of crowding. The premolars are the teeth next to your Canines on the sides by your molars.

good luck with your treatment, and i will definetely say, Damon Braces are not as painful as Conventional braces, and give off the best treatment by far.

by the way: Invisalign may or may not be suitable for you. Invisalign is only able to fix minor crowding that isnt in any form severely crooked or misaligned. If you have crowded/crooked teeth and a bad overbite, then invisalign might not be able to fix your malocclusion, i cannot tell you if it can or cannot for certain because an orthodontist can only determine for sure which would be a better treatment for you.
