This is the 2nd time I have had the most beautiful tomatoe bed and they are eating them. We live in a rural area, lots of woods. The old home remedies dont seem to work . Is the new product Deer Out anygood? Short of caging it in what can I do.

  1. A deer proof fence that isn't electric will have to be at least 10 feet high and is expensive. I have a 30 x 90 foot garden and also have a lot of deer. An electric fence, two strand, is not that expensive and does the job quite well. I haven't had a problem since I put one up 10 years ago. I have an orchard next to the garden and have the fence around both. Controllers and wire are cheap and depending on what type of poles you decide on, the rest isn't all that terrible either. Believe me, I tried everything else and this is the ONLY sure fire way.

  2. the only way to ensure that no deer get to your garden, is to put up a fence, electric is best. sorry.

  3. Try a product called a Savage 30-06.

This works very well and if used properly will definitely help save the tomatoes. Very user friendly and will last a lifetime.

  4. You can try those motion sensor sprinklers.  They go off when they detect motion and would scare the deer away i would think.

I purchased rolled up cheap deer fencing and some 6 foot stakes and stapled the netting to the stakes and hammered the stakes in the ground.  Works for me.

  5. there is a fertilizer called meralit(dont know the spelling)it is made from sledge from waste management plants. it smells bad but it works great!! I have not lost one plant since using it.you can get it from a nursery.

  6. I put dog hair around my garden/. It seems to be working.

  7. Hang shaved Irish Spring bath soap in small cheesecloth bags around the garden on fence, stakes, tomato cages whatever and replenish at least one time during the growing season.

  8. Proper deer proof fencing, not necessarily electric. Discuss it with you local fencer.
