I say it's Travis Kvapil. To be in 18th place in points and only 110 points shy of making the chase in a car that has been un-sponsored for half of it's races is pretty impressive. Travis has to be on the radar for some other teams looking to repace their younger drivers that have not met expectations. But I would rather see him a sponsored #28. And it would be hard to move him to Gilliland's #38 when he is more than holding his own in the point standings at 21st.

Actually, props to Yates altogether.

Someone sponsor Travis already !!! Look at how many sponsored cars out there that are not an automatic entry at the moment.

  1. I agree. It's pretty shocking that Kvapil doing so good when Yates Racing is so much bad luck.

  2. I agree with \reg on both However , I would add Kurt Busch for staying out of the chase and Jeff Burton for being consistent

  3. Travis who.....................

DAVID RAGAN! He is the entire package!

  4. I would have to say David Ragan

  5. I would say David Ragan but major applause in the direction of the Yates camp. They were in shambles just last year and now they are on their way back to the top. David Ragan gets my vote because if it was up to me, he would have been out of the car at the end of last year. He plowed up the wall and wrecked half of his cars but this year, he is in the Chase and impressing me.

  6. Dale Jr.

Last year he had 9 DNFs, this year he had 9 top 10's I do believe.  Rock on even though you haven't won.

Jeff Gordon as well, 1 DNF last year, 3 this year.  No wins.  His 2nd ever last place finish.

Kvapil is a surpise as is Ragan but I don't know how long Kvapil can keep up the run... If only he was in a good car... (RCR should take him as their 4th driver next year)

  7. #8 Aric A

  8. I agree with you.

  9. jeff burton, travis kvapil, matt kenseth but the other way around.

  10. I would have to say Travis Kvapil and David Ragan! Travis is having a really good year and so is David he is in the top 12!!

  11. I can't argue with you at all.  I tried to think of someone else, but Kvapil's impressed me this year.

I'm also surprised--in a bad way--at how badly the ex-open wheel drivers are doing.

  12. Kyle Busch

  13. JR for staying in the top 10, even though no wins, yet, I said Yet, give the man time, he will turn it around

and yes David is surprising everyone, even Yates himself

Lets all donate to him, and put our names on his car.

    anyone up for it.....

  14. I was going to say David Regan but I think Travis would be a better choice.

  15. I like Travis alot but my nod goes to Ragan so far because he  is higher in the points. Ragan was terrible last year.

  16. Matt Kenseth, I'm extremely surprised at how poorly he is running this year.  David Ragan is a good surprise.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  17. Gotta be Travis Kvapil, hey he has kept me alive in my fantasy leagues that I'm in...Will someone sponsor this Dude, he is a good driver...I hope he continues to have a great season, he is such a nice guy as well...Way to go Travis, keep up the good work...Loved that #28 paint scheme at Darlington, reminded me so much of Fearless Freddie Lorenzen in that same color scheme back in the 60's, you did Freddie proud Travis..... I agree SOMEONE please SPONSOR Travis...its gonna be $$$$ well spent..

  18. I would have to agree that Yates as a whole is doing great but David Ragan is having the most surprising year. Who would have thought that he would be chase material so soon. McMurray needs to be worried because he is on his way out at Rousch if he doesn't turn things around and he is making it easy on Rousch when he has to go down to 4 teams. I know everybody may be tired of hearing it but kudos to the 88 team for being the best team at Hendrick's so far. Most people knew he was going to do better but he is making Jimmie and Jeff look bad. Who would have thought he could do that in 1 year.

As for sponsorship i keep hearing that NAPA and UPS aren't happy with Waltrip racing and UPS wants Carl Edwards but don't be surprised if they don't go back to Yates. I think Jeff Burton may get first shot at either one but which ever one he doesn't get will probably end up at Yates. Burton can't use AT&T next year.

  19. I would have said Travis Kvapil also. he's been unsponsored almost the entire year and he's all the way up to 18th place in points. that's really impressive.

  20. I would say Travis Kvapil and David Ragan. I still can not believe that Ragan is in the top 12 in points as well right now and I didn't think that Kvapil could get sponsor support but so far these two drivers have proved that they have something in Nascar.
