Then, he made a move to Barcelona’s youth academy and was there for another four years until he finally made the Barcelona B team in 2004 and played there for a year.
In the same year, Lionel Messi was made part of the first Barcelona squad. He has so far given a hundred and forty eight performances for his club and has netted ninety one goals.
He had earlier left Newell’s Old Boys in 2000 which is in Rosario and made his entire family move to Europe so that he could be a part of Barcelona.
Barcelona also offered Messi treatment for his growth hormone deficiency. The player broke several of club’s records and became the youngest player to have ever scored a league goal and this was when he was only seventeen.
Many honours started to flow towards Barcelona with the arrival of Messi as they won the league as well as Champions league titles. Lionel’s most breakthrough season was the 2006-07 one as he became a permanent member of the starting line up and scored a
hat-trick in El Clasico as well as finished the league season with fourteen goals. He played twenty six games that season.
Arguably, his most rewarding season was 2008-09 as Messi netted thirty eight goals and played a major part in Barcelona winning the treble. In the 2009-10 campaign, he scored forty seven goals which equals to Ronaldo’s record with Barcelona.
Messi was also the highest scorer during FIFA World Youth Championships in 2005 as he scored six goals then and this included the two goals during the final match. He has also established himself as an integral member of Argentinean national team.
In 2006, he became the one of the youngest Argentinean players to participate in the World Cup and won the runner up medal in Copa America. In 2008, Messi won his first international title as he won a gold medal at the Olympics while playing for the Argentinean
Olympic football team.
He has already scored eight goals in his eight matches this season and the terrifying part is that this player is still not in his top form. Lionel is believed to be almost unstoppable.
Most people believe that there are no rivals to Lionel Messi, he is the player of the generation, and there is no one going to be even close to him for at least a decade.
He is a complete footballer, an amazing goal scorer, intelligent on the field. He creates chances and scores as well. Messi has a strong header. He knows just how to read the game, and is the best at almost everything that he does on the field.
He has millions of fans the world over and they all are following him to his path of eternal glory.
