What happens in the ending?

Help arrives after he shot everyone he is with (including his son) because they were in such despair and desperate. Movie endings like that anger me! It was a bit shocking though...

the sane ppl leave the city (the old lady,old man,main guy,his son, and the blonde woman)

and drive till they run out of gas

then the main guy shoots his friends when the run out of gas and right after he does help arrives

well they escape, that is those with the guy, and the guy kills them all thinking that nobody wud survive, but when he wanted to kill himself the bullets were finished. but soon the mist was clead because the army force killed the monster and the guy regreted his action.

They escape in a car, and they all decide to commit suicide rather than be eaten or attacked. So the father shoots everyone including his own child and leaves the car to be killed, since he didn't have enough bullets for himself. As he is wandering around car the mist dissipates and the army arrives to save the day. So he killed his child for nothing. It ends with him dropping to his knees and screaming in anguish.
