  1. Amtrak is the brand name of the intercity passenger train system created on May 1, 1971 in the United States. Officially known as the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, the name "Amtrak" is a portmanteau of the words "American" and "track."

  2. Yeh as explained above, but its also a parcel company in the UK.

  3. look it up your self

  4. American Track....I guess it was the best fusion that they could come up with

  5. In the earlier years of train travel, Congress (U.S. Congress) chartered a company named Amtrak.  Since it was at that time fully funded by the government, they wanted the word "American" in it's name.  The "Am" in "Amtrak" means "American".  "trak" is probably just their fancy way of spelling "track."

  6. Amtrak means AMerican TRAvel on tracK.

  7. I LIKE crazzkc24 Answer she is absolutely right. i use that website & BlinkBits.Com for all my Amtrak RSS news feeds.

crazzkc24 must be A Amtrak Railfan or a Railfan in general.

if you have an e-mail address & you're a railfan i'd love to talk trains with you.

  8. Am = (America), trak = (track)
