Question:

The name IKAIKA part 2?

I have another question going about this name and people are tearing it down, which is fine because we are all entitled to our own opinions. However, my husband and I are really thinking about this name as an option. Some suggestions were to use it as a middle name. So that brings on my next question

Arielle Ikaika-Lynn Martinez, how does that sound? I just switched the names around , but I had to add Lynn because Arielle Ikaika sounds like the name isnt complete. The flow was not good.

Let me know if this is better because not too many people will have to encounter her middle name and we are not SCARRING her and some would say.

Be brutal if you must, but I am really only interested in positive answers. If you dont like it, say you dont like it, thats fine, but saying it sounds like a dogs name is harsh because there are people in the world with that name.

  1. I like the name without the lynn.

  2. I still don't love the name. It's kind of cute. I told you when I answered your first question that I like Hawaiian names as well. I like the names..

    Kalei Ariel

    Leilani Isabel

    Noelani Annabel

(If you want to know the pronunciations and meanings check my first answer.)

  3. I like this full name you have chosen.  It is a nice use of the name you like and a beautiful sounding name all together.  congrats.

  4. Ikaika (but more commonly spelled ika-ika) means "limping" in Filipino.

    It's quite unique though.

  5. I like Arielle Ikaika Martinez much better.

I think it flows fine without the Lynn added though. I tend to think of Lynn as a filler middle name like Ann or Grace.  Plus it's sort of a mouthful (and a lot to write on forms). But if the flow bothers you then I say go for it.

Ikaika is original and spunky enough as a middle name by itself.

EDIT- I just saw somebody's suggestion of Leilani. I think Leilani is gorgeous.

  6. I like it since middle names are not used only in documents and angry mothers. LOL I like how you are not using Spanish names since the last name is Spanish. People can be stereotypical and say you need to name her Sophia, Isabella, or Maria. I say forget that. We too have the Martinez last name. Me and my other half do not like Spanish names.

  7. There's nothing wrong with Ikaika.  It's a male name but nobody seems to care about that any more.  I think it's fine with or without the Lynn.

  8. LOL, Im sorry I just dont like it... I think thats worse.  Really, after I saw the last name it just doesnt flow right at all.  You love the name though so go with it.  I liked it better as a first name all together.  But then again you are right people dont really use middle names much so she would just be Arielle Martinez.  Yep, my vote is for Arielle Martinez.

  9. Ikaika doesn't really bother me.  The other day i asked a question about my favorite girl names which include Scarlett Rose and Ffion Isabella.  Well I just decided I will use them both.  People were tearing me down completely on Ffion while others were in love with it.  I love the double f personally and quite frankly it isn't like i would name them something stupid like cupcake or pickle or something like that.  Therefore go with your instinct on Ikaika, it is unique, but it isn't like totally crazy.  You won't be scarring her for life, and it is a wise decision that you do only take the positive answers and tell the others to shutup.  I prefer Arielle Ikaika, or Ikaika Arielle but like i said it is your opinion.
