The name Nicola?

Question

I know this is a unisex name, but I have always thought of it as more of a girls name.

What do you think? Do you think this name is too boy-ish?

i don't consider the name nicola to be unisex. it is most often a girl's name.

i like the name nicola, but i am biased because one of my dearest friends is named nicola

it doesn't really seem unisex to me. i could see it as more of a girls name. it's very feminine. i love it. nicolette & nicolina are also nice! :-)

I luv Nicola as a name - a girls name.  Sorry had to have a giggle, it's definitely not a boys name, lol.  I think you're confused with Nicola and Nicolas.  Nicola is very feminine and in my opinion way better than Nicole

Well there you go. You learn something new everyday! I never knew it could be a boys name but thinking about it I think that Nicola is more of a girls name because you have Nicole as a girls name. It really isn't to boyish at all.

i have never heard of a boy called nicola, but i have heard of it alot for girls.

I have a cousin called Nicola and my step brothers girlfriend is called Nicole. i think Nicola is a lovely name-I didn't even think of it as a boys name!

Nicola is an italian name for a boy!!! I live in italy and here it is exclusively for BOYS!!! It must be due to habit but i wld find it really weird on a girl!!!

Really, my mom is american (she has lived in italy for very long though) and she never heard Nicola as a girl's name! Maybe she's been influenced by the italian culture too...but believe me: it is really weird to think of calling a girl NICOLA (i dont mean to offend your choice...it's just my opinion!).

You have to think of it like this: Nicola is Nicholas in english; if you have some sort of attachment to that name i suggest you use the feminine version Nicoletta.

It really depends on where you live. If you are in the U.S. then, yes it is a lovely name for a girl.

Definately a girls name - in my opinion it's definately not boy-ish.  Nicknames Nic and Nicky are very cute too I think :)
