My husband and I are expecting our first baby in few weeks. We are very excited and we have decided to name him:

Maximus Demetrius (Maximus Dimitrije)

I was just curious how the Yahoo Answers community feels about this name and how do you like this name. Thank you for your time and answers.

  1. Well naming your boy "The Greatest Follower of the Goddess of Corn" might be a cause of embarassment for him,  Sort of like naming him "Sue".   He can always be relieved that he can go to court and get it change when he reaches his majority.  Until then he can live with being called "Max" or "Demi".

Why would you saddle a child you presumable love with a name like that?

  2. choose either one or the other, both is a bit of a mouthful!

  3. A little too "Gladiator", honestly...

  4. um... I think it is terrible. If you just call him max he will be called Maxi pad in school. Maximus is terrible.

  5. I don't like how they both end in "us" its a little repetitive.

  6. I'm maximus...

    TO THE MAXXX!!!

  7. I do not really like it.  It has too many syllables, and is a little extreme for my liking.  Keep in mind that most names flow the best when they have 5-7 syllables in the whole name (including first, middle, and last).  Your name has about 6 in just the first two names.

  8. I think he's going to get teased in school. Even if he goes by "Max" on the first day of school for 12 years of his life the teacher will call out Maximus and the other kids will laugh. I think Max by itself is a great name. And I like Demetrius too. Maybe just reverse them.

  9. i personally think its a little too extreme

i think if you were going to do such an uncommon first name the middle name should be some what more common (and vice versa) not necessarily like adam but something a little, calmer, i guess you could say.

  10. You of course get to choose your baby's name.  But.....holy cow, that's a big name to slap on a little baby.  Maximus?!  I can think of a lot of teasing he would endure, all having to do with the size of his rear end or the size of his something else.  My second thought is that maybe you've watched "Gladiator" a few too many times?

Well, maybe you're in a country where Maximus is a more common name for boys.

Again, he's your baby, you get to choose.  I'm sure he'll be a cute little guy, no matter what.

  11. well it is different an a bit long but you know what that is what you like so go with that =) mazel tov on the new baby

  12. lets just hope when the kid's in trouble you dont decide to start yelling the full name. I dont think its bad but you're going to get aweful tounge tied. Maybe pick a calmer middle name.

  13. it's a mouthful in my honest opinion....the first name is 3 syllables & the second is 4 syllables.

  14. I like the first name. I don't like the middle one.

    But it's up to you.

  15. its okay but i dont love it!! Sorry!!!!!!

  16. Kinda long, Make sure you have a nickname or two!!

  17. umm... its a little much.

but i think if you call him max that it would be cute.

but its a beautiful name, btw.

    good luck  (:

  18. I can dig it, Majority of names come from Latin/Greek, "Nero" Strong and powerful. You must be Orthodox, Those are Saints names. Americans, duh!

  19. um

    um

    wow.

how do i put this nicely...

i like where you're coming from. but maybe calm it down a bit. looks like you're trying too hard to be original but traditional and it comes out as a little bit pompous?

    What about Maxwell Dmitry?
