  1. Save it up- do it once a month?

  2. Granted, I haven't been down there yet; but the recycling dude at the recycling depot in Carver Co/Chaska (41 & Peavey) said that there was a regular center in Norwood-Young America & Burnsville.  That can't be 90 miles from you if you're in Carver Co.... Would love to go down to either to check them out, but want an excuse to be in the area otherwise....not just 'shopping' at the recycling center... you know!  If you go ~ let us know what kind of goods they have around.

  3. Probably not if you do it frequently.

If you save up the less-biodegradable items (glass, aluminum, plastics) and go every time you get a car full, then maybe.

    All in all, it's a lose-lose situation.

  4. It would be if your community pools its  recyclables until it has a large truckload to take.

Or if someone is going there anyway and it is flat land, even take a trailer load behind the car or load a pickup.

Glass is an exception. it is almost never worth while transporting glass any distance. It is more economic to dig up some new sand. Melting glass takes the same energy as melting sand.

Of course do your own composting where you are for biodegradable.

  5. It´s never eco-friendly to burn extra fuel for recycling. Ask your self! Where do I get all this "garbage"? Bring it back to the sourcenext time you go there, if thats closer than the 90 mile recycling center. Your local grocery store is probobly your biggest source. Have them to set up a little recycling center. Also talk to others in the same "boat". If a company delivers to your house, ask them to bring card board back from your house. Remember its more eco-friendly to burn cardboard than fossil fuel. Cardboard carbon is already in the eco-system. Find a way to reuse that card board energy. Heat your house?? Everthing can be saved at your house for a BIG load trip. If it cant be saved it probobly can be composted, paper towels and news paper can go into composting in smaller amounts.

  6. I live only 5 minutes from the recycling center and I still just save them up, and than load the car up.
