  1. if there are any bacteria in the feeder or solution the solution will get cloudy as it ages

    this is not a good thing

    the birds will feed on it less

    change the solution at least every other day

    if it is not getting used up by then , just don't fill the feeder all the way when you put it out

    we use 1cup sugar to 3 cups water---

    place the solution in a clean glass container (pyrex measuring cup)

    stir

    put in microwave heat on high for 3 minutes

    stir

    let it cool before using

    store excess in refrigerator til needed

  2. Direct sunlight does this to the solution, especially the colored solutions. I have the same problem with one of my three feeders and it is the only one in direct sunlight. It doesn't seem to bother the birds though. I have also found it happens quicker in glass feeders than plastic ones.

  3. Sugar. It does that when it gets warm.

    It hasn't gone bad or anything but its just...

    If you mix water and sugar together with warm water it goes clear but if you keep it hot for a long amount of time the sugar and water become cloudy...

    There's probably a wonderful scientific answer for it but I don't think... that's what I can do.

  4. Could be the warm temperature outside OR too much sugar content perhaps.
