The network name cannot be found. This connection has not been restored. How can I restore it?

This is an error I got on my laptop. I have it connected to my PC. The H: Drive is on my PC. I used to be able to access it on my Laptop, but for some reason I cant anymore. Does anyone know how I can fix it?

If the network settings have not changed, it may just be a firewall issue. Sometimes updates change the firewall settings so check to be sure the firewalls (both machines) allow local networks to communicate. The easy way is to disable both firewalls, see if the problem is gone, then re-enable them one machine at a time.

If that gets it your done. You may have to click the "H" drive with the firewalls disabled to make it reconnect.

If that doesn't get it - repost and let us know. The other thing that can happen is that the network workgroup name was changed on one of the machines  You can check that by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon and click "Properties" then "Computer Name"  The Workgroup - should be the same on both machines - the machine name should be different!
