I usually don't have a problem connecting my new laptop with the secured wireless connection in my apartment building, but I have to send it to a repair center. I tried to use my older laptop but this message keeps popping: "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters."

My network password is just a sentence (19 letters). I'm not sure how to reconfigure the password to 5 or 13 ascii / 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.

I am using linksys A+G network adapter for my older laptop, and no, I am not in charge of the router as it's inside my landlord's room upstairs. I didn't have problem with this adapter for the last 3 years until my landlord bought a new router.

  1. It sounds like the landlord has turned on so kind of security at the router.  Which is a good safety precaution.  but unfortunately without the key from your landlord you will not be able to connect
