The new golf rankings are out, March Leishman moves to 78th
The new golf rankings are out for the 25th week and there is hardly any change at the top. The top ten rankings remain the same, with Luke Donald leading the pack. However, there was minute shuffling from 10 to 20 places.
Although there was no change at the top but there is been significant movement at the back. Marc Leishman, who recently won the Travelers Championship, has jumped a staggering 82 places.
According to the new rankings Leishman is now at 78th in the world golf rankings.
Leishman had a wonderful final round at the TPC River Highlands, where he shot 8-under 62 with eight birdies to claim his maiden title.
Going into the day four, not much was expected from the Australian but he started the round very well and had a bogey free final round. This resulted in his first ever victory on the PGA Tour.
Danny Willet, who recently won the BMW International Open, is now at the 115th place after moving 89 spots up the ladder. It was Willet’s first ever win and he had to come through a four-hole playoff to claim the victory in Cologne.
Other changes that took place in the world golf ranking were that Johnson and Mickelson both improved by one spot and are now at the 13th and 14th positions respectively.
News from around the world is that Brad Kennedy shot 6-under 66 on the final at the Mizuno Open in Japan to claim his first title.
At the end of the tournament, the Australian finished with 17-under par, just three strokes ahead of Toshinori Muto and Taniguchi
Casey Wittenberg won at the Nationwide Tour to claim his second title of the season. With this victory and his T10 finish at the US Open, he has now moved to the 154th place in the world and is very close to getting his PGA Tour Card for the next
season.
In Canada, Michael Gilic won his first title at the Canadian Tour after a playoff victory over Matt Marshall.
In the Asian Tour, Lee In-woo won his first title when he won the Volvik Hildesheim Open J Golf Series, he shot three rounds of 60 to claim his first ever title.
