The next Derek Jeter – Part 1
Nothing is permanent and everything moves forward with time, same is the case with baseball. Knowing that, it still would be hard to imagine Major League Baseball without Derek Jeter playing for the mighty New York Yankees.
Given how much he has managed to achieve, it is hard to imagine a time where he is not putting in 100 percent on the field for his team and the fans. However, a time will come when Jeter will eventually retire from baseball. Until that time comes, it will
be interesting to see which new young player has what it takes to become the next superstar of MLB.
The following are some rookies that have shown tremendous potential of becoming the next face of MLB when the Jeter era comes to an end.
Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants is 24-years-old. He was part of the team that won the World Series for the Giants in 2010 after about half a decade of waiting and on top of that he managed that during his first year with in the Major League at just
23-years of age.
This is almost the same as Jeter who managed to win the World Series in his first year with the New York Yankees when he was just 22 at the time, which is even more impressive. Posey established himself as a reliable and efficient player as he manages to
put in consistent performances for the Giants. He is a tremendous player with extensive talent and has the ability to blossom into a superstar like Jeter.
Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays is someone who has such charisma that the fans, team-mates and opponents speak of his tremendous abilities with the highest regard. He has been a decent run maker for the Rays since 2008. Longoria is still young with amazing
potential. He has a large fan following and backs it up with consistent performances for the team. Longoria has the skills and talent to flourish in the MLB and quite possibly become the next Derek Jeter.
Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies has something about him that makes everyone take notice. When he is having a good day on the field it seems like he is everywhere because his physical stature is hard to miss. Troy signed on a major contract for 10
years that will pay him 157.75-million-dollars.
It is obvious the Rockies see something in him to invest that much money. His popularity is rising amongst the League and his fan-base is every increasing. Troy has tremendous talent and he seems to be growing in confidence as he is beginning to mature.
He understands the responsibility of team-work and that with some hard work and dedication anything is possible. He has the opportunity to grow and become a brilliant baseball player for many years to come.
To fill the shoes of Jeter is an almost impossible task to accomplish. However, these young players do have the skills and the talent to take their game-play to the next level and achieve great things not only for themselves, but for their teams. Many fans
are already comparing these young players to Jeter and only time will tell if they can live up to the expectations and make a mark in the MLB and become potential superstars in the League.
