Before you answer, know it's history.

The famous 1/2 mile, high bank Salem Speedway becoming our next world class motorplex of racing?

Turning the historic 1/2 mile to a 5/8 mile high bank track (think of Bristol but bigger than Texas' motorplex) with a drag strip and 1 mile road course.

The gears are turning and soon will happen! Formal announcement will be forthcoming in the very near future.

What will be the pros and cons of this historic event that is going to happen to this tiny Southern Indiana town?

  1. I have heard many stories about Salem Speedway. It is a legendary short track. I've seen a few races on tv and always wanted to go there at least once in my life. At this point, the odds are against it. There's a bunch of hoops to jump through before any of this can actually happen. If the track does get demolished to make way for the future, it will be destroying a piece of history. I am glad to see more big motorsports complexes being built, though. It only makes sense to put several types of race tracks on the same land. Strength in numbers.

  2. It looks like a great local track with some famous history.  Seems they are currently running outlaws and super stock?  That is what the run here at our local track as well.  Yours is just more famous with better sponsors.  Sounds great!
