Yes, take your shoes and socks off. Step on our "United Airlines" scale. Five pounds will be added to your weight if you have a bag of potato chips and a can of sugar water. Welcome, to the Friendly Skies!

  1. Excellent idea!!

  2. That would be fair.

  3. Actually, the way they do that now is to charge one who is obese for a second seat.  I have been paying for the second seat since I was 400 and I am well past that now.  I don't bring the chips to eat and since lowering the table is out of the question at my current 600 plus (way plus) size, I bring my own bag - usually McDonalds (you would not believe how much) and simply eat my way through the flight.  Luckily they will provie us with extender belts (yes for me that was plural).  if they are nice, they let us really big people get on first so we don't block the aisles and have time to get in the seats.  Since I barely squeeze down the aisle I need the extra time.  I don't mind paying for the second seat.  After all I need the room.

  4. Some airlines already require larger passengers to pay for 2 seats if they cannot fit easily into one.A few years ago they complained that the average weight of passengers is higher today then is was in days gone by. With the rampant size discrimination, I could see this happening.

By the way, does that mean skinny people get a discount???

  5. ya well that's life 4 ya... well  American crises life... oil costs more then ya think... every 10 dollars it goes up costs them 800 million dollars per plane!

  6. So...

That's capitalism at work waddya want socialism?

  7. On some smaller aircrafts it's mandatory to for each passenger to tell his or her weight for weight and balance purposes.  As far as charging for being obese, I doubt the laws would allow that.
