The night sky?

I am in manchester, which planet is visabal in the southern sky at the moment

I was going to say venus, but I'm sure I read it was mercury as we line up with the moon and sun for an eclipse. Not sure, the  sky isn't clear here and I don't have a good night view. Too close to the ground, the sky is too cloudy and overcast, town pollution maybe.

venus is very low in the west at dusk. theoretically. i haven't seen it yet.

its normally venus i think, or the north star (whatever that is)

it is Jupiter it is probably one of the brightest if not the brightest planet or star in the night sky.its probably in the constellation Sagittarius,and you can recognize some of it with the asterisim the tea pot,just look to the southern horizon.

The bright one that is currently in the southern skies at night is Jupiter.  Venus is brighter, but still very close to the Sun from our viewpoint.
