  1. Spoons/forks = "flatware"

    Normally, gold refers only to the "top coating" of flatware.  Pure gold is too soft a metal to handle food service.  Therefore, most "gold" flatware is either gold "covered" or an alloy.  Besides, if the pieces were pure gold, the prices would be exorbitantly expensive, even for one piece, much less one place setting, much less several place settings!
