Question:

The odds of having twins?

by  |  earlier

My biological father is a fraternal twin, and my boyfriend is an identical twin. I say that that does not improve the odds of me having twins at all, because it is on the father's side, both times. But my boyfriend disagrees.

am I wrong here?

  1. Actually, you are both kind of correct. Since twins do 'technically' run in your family, it may affect your pregnancy the same, but with your boyfriend being a twin, that has nothing to do with it.

  2. Well, if your biological father is a twin, then it is on your side...So you have the "twin genes" and so does your boyfriend. It is a 50-50 chance you could have twins! Congrats!

  3. From my understanding it comes from the mothers side of the family.  In my family it skips a generation. My grandma had twins and now I am. My cousin also had twins a few weeks ago.

  4. There is no genetic component relating to the incidence of identical twins. It's completely random.

  5. Your chances are like 1 out of every 100. I think it is has twins unless it runs in the family, then the odd go down ALOT.
