What kind of "guns" did VISA have to pull for their card to be the only one accepted at the Olympic games?

I really doubt that the VISA card is the only one accepted at the olympics, though it may be the only one accepeted at the stadium itself, and for tickets to the games.

Typically merchants have to pay fees for every credit card transaction they process which hurts their bottom line of course.

the IOC probably solicited bids from the major Credit Card companies, seeking the lowest transaction rates, and Visa won.

That's probably it, it's that simple, it's all about money.

AMEX and Discover were probably not considered, due to their relative rarity amongst card holders.
