The one South African and the Harry Allen Golf Tournament
Yesterday proved to be a rather tough day for the South Africans at the Harry Allen Golf Club.
The Harry Allen Golf (Diasporan) Tournament was held yesterday at the Harry Allen GC and welcomed ten golfers from the South African soil. The GC handed the golfers some rather tough greens to deal with as only one golfer from the South African line-up had
been able to cross the top ten thresholds.
Amidst the lethal field and the uncontrollable greens, Albert Shoko stood as one of the proud entrants in the top-ten cult. Shoko is the chairman of the Diasporas and collected 33 points in a playoff handicap of 18. The Chairman was the fifth golfer of the
day to step into the top-ten list.
The GC welcomed a total of 58 golfers attacking the fields and eventually sided with Moses Mlalazi as the overall winner.
Mlalazi grabbed The Harry Allen Golf Tournament after collecting a total of 35 points with a play-off handicap of three. As for the runner up position, Mufaro Chivonivoni managed to appear as a rather tough clash for the leader and amassed a 35 points play-off
with handicap four.
With 34 points, the leader board tied Augustine Khoza and Edson “Sugar” Muguyo, who is one of the soccer legends. The tied situation bought together Muguyo who grabbed a third place from his play-off handicap 10 and Khoza who was on handicap 16 from the
play-off.
At sixth place, Moses Mzapu stood valiantly with his 32 earned points and a supportive handicap 13 while one place below him, Tawu Paguwa grabbed the seventh place. Paguwa earned a total of 13 points from his play from a play-off handicap of 13 as well.
From the men’s section, Themba Ndori played the longest drive while Lorraine Huwa won the same title from the ladies section.
Regarding other titles, the nearest to pin title was awarded to Chivonivoni after a remarkable display on hole number four and seven while Vusumuzi Mpofu won on the short hole number 17.
The winner was awarded with a coffee table and two chairs while Chivonivoni got a 26-piece imported dinner set. As for the golfers from South Africa, they handed out an amount of R4 000 to Harry Allen GC which will further buy and donate groceries for charitable
organisations.
