The organizers of Rome finally confirm the venue for the 2013 Formula 1 season
According to the CEO of the FIA Bernie Ecclestone, Formula 1 needs to grow and in order to do that, the officials have decided that they will spread the sport as much as they can by holding races in various countries where Formula 1 has never held a race
ever before.
This would definitely promote the sport even more and since Formula 1 has fans in many countries like India, Russia and many others where no Formula 1 grand prix takes place, it is definitely a good idea to take the sport to those countries and earn more
publicity and money at the same time.
However, as a result of this whole development, the FIA’s CEO started to come up with absurd ideas like an African Grand Prix and another Spanish Grand Prix as well which is not going to help the sport financially and publicity wise.
Since the FIA started to spread the sport all around the world, some of the countries have stepped forward and proposed to the FIA that they want to hold a Formula 1 grand prix. One of these countries is Italy.
The Organizers of the Roman Grand Prix claim that the FIA has promised a Russian Grand Prix on the 25th of August in 2013 as the inaugural race of the city despite the fact that most of the people have discouraged this idea.
Since there is already an Italian Grand Prix, the officials and professionals believe that the FIA should not hold more than a single race in a country per season due to the immense and sudden growth of venues.
Nevertheless, the race is expected to take place in the 2013 Formula 1 season and according to the man behind the bid Maurizio Flammini, everything is on schedule for the inaugural despite the criticism against the venue.
“All the procedures are fully in line with the time needed to organise the grand prix,” he told the media
He believes that the Roman Formula 1 fans are fully supporting this development and he will "formalise the request to the FIA" after the Roman city authorities approve this project.
“I have read that for nearly two years the name Formula 1 Gran Premio di Roma has been registered by [him],” Flammini added.
