  1. A well known man said "your word is truth." (John 17:17)

He was referring to his Creator and the scriptures.

How can we trust that it is ?

By studying it. And when we do, we find the following:

    *Many foretold and fulfilled prophecies.

*Despite some 40 different writers over a 1600 year period, there is an internal harmony.

*Where the scriptures touch on scientific matters, it is accurate. Many years before science discovered these facts.

So, the scriptures showing evidence of truth and thereby proving reliability of it's Author, the original idea of sin in the book of Genesis must be - true.   :o)

  2. adam and eve were not the first 2 people on the 6th day God created humans on the 7th he rested on the 8th He created eden and et hoth adham (the man adam) on the 9th eve was created the perfect blood line for Christ to be born was thereby created they were perfect in God's eyes the lived in a perfect garden and were perfect pedigree

original sin is a two fold concept some say it was eve that started it by eating the "apple" this is not true she did sin but being she was not one of the original people how could she have committed the original sin

others say the original sin is a child born from having s*x the s*x being lustful and the sins of the fathers are visited on the sons

both these things are a direct contradiction to God's word and therefor are flat out lies there is no such thing as "original" sin in either concept of it

  3. I believe the Adam and Eve story to be true.

I believe that Adam was the first human, and he was the first human to sin.

I do NOT believe in the doctrine of "original sin" however.

  4. Ever take care of a small child? They are innocent and pure, and the most wonderful little creations in the world. They are also self-centered, greedy, and constantly demanding. That is not an insult to children, it is just their nature. So yes, I believe in original sin.

  5. true

I never had to teach my kids how to lie or be selfish or steal

since they were toddlers, I had to teach them to be honest and good

If my baby girl wanted my watch and she was my size she would tear it off my arm and leave bloody footprints out of the house and not think twice about it

  6. The doctrine of original sin, closely connected with that of redemption by Christ, provides lucid discernment of man's situation and activity in the world. By our first parents' sin, the devil has acquired a certain domination over man, even though man remains free. Original sin entails "captivity under the power of him who thenceforth had the power of death, that is, the devil".Ignorance of the fact that man has a wounded nature inclined to evil gives rise to serious errors in the areas of education, politics, social and morals.

Although it is proper to each individual, original sin does not have the character of a personal fault in any of Adam's descendants. It is a deprivation of original holiness and justice, but human nature has not been totally corrupted: it is wounded in the natural powers proper to it, subject to ignorance, suffering and the dominion of death, and inclined to sin - an inclination to evil that is called concupiscence". Baptism, by imparting the life of Christ's grace, erases original sin and turns a man back towards God, but the consequences for nature, weakened and inclined to evil, persist in man and summon him to spiritual battle.

  7. The idea is that if the Adam and Eve story true, then Adam originally brought sin into the world. This means that evolution cannot be true under these circumstances, as evolution relies on death, because no death can occur without the curse of sin.

If Adam and Eve were true, evolution can not exist. If Evolution is true, Adam and Eve can not exist.

  8. Paul wrote that all men are born in sin, which would aptly fit the original sin concept. Yet many Christian scholars will tell you that this is only stated as a symbol of the burden of sin.

I would then ask, if the act of disobedience was not the original sin, what was? If it was the sin Paul spoke of, it is only a small sin and mankind is being judged extremely hard for it.

If the practicing Christian believes it is not true as is taught, but only a symbol, then they are being duped into believing that they are born in sin when in fact they are not, for if there was no original sin in the garden then man was ousted unfairly. If the sin was committed then they have a very pitiful  egitistical God who likes to show how important he is by these tactics.

Any way you look at it, Their God is cruel or such an egomaniac that if he were a man they would have him in irons and hung from the highest tree.

    paganistic heathen.

  9. The idea of "original sin" is simply that before Adam and Eve disobeyed God, there was no sin in this world. They were the first to sin, therefore their act was original. Contrary to popular thought, we are not under the death penalty because of their sin, we are (were ) under it because of our own sins. Thanks for asking!

  10. I don't know if you're referring to the REAL original sin, as in, they disobeyed God and ate the fruit....or if you mean man's idea that having s*x was the original sin.  God would never have put Adam and Eve together and said "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth" if s*x was a sin.

Their sin, like I said, was the disobedience they manifested when eating the forbidden fruit.  Thus, as quoted above, sin entered into the scene and all humans (because they were offspring of Adam) inherited sin, which causes death.

  11. I believe the account of Adam and Eve is absolutely true, however, I do NOT believe that the guilt from the original sin is inherited by those born in subsequent generations.

The Bible says, "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." (Ezekiel 18:20)

The Bible teaches we will each be judged based on what we have done.

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." (2 Cor. 5:10)

  12. Okay, listen up.  No God, therefore no Garden of Eden, Therefore no Adam or Eve, therefore No Original Sin.  Simple, really.

  13. The Bible says (somewhere in Romans) that Adam sinned, and so death passed to all men because all have sinned.  (It does NOT say " because all ARE sinners", but " because all HAVED sinned."  It also says that DEATH passed on to all men, not sin.

Furthermore, the biggest scripture (most popular) is when David said "In sin did my mother conceive me."  This says nothing about David being born in sin, but that his mother was sinning when she conceived him (simple grammar.)  (This was an emotional response to his remorse over his sin with Bathsheba, not a theological statement about sin or sin nature.)

Finally, in Ezekiel, God said that there was a proverb going around that He did not want to hear any more, mainly that "The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge."  He goes on to say that the son will NOT die for the sins of the father, but each soul shall die for his OWN sins.

I realize that we have a fallen nature, that we live in a fallen world, and that the propensity to sin is great.  But we are NOT judged for someone ELSE'S sins, only for our OWN.  God said so, Himself (again, referring back to the passage in Ezekiel.)

I DO believe the account of Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit, et al, but I do NOT believe that WE are judged for THEIR sins, nor do we die for THEIR disobedience.  The Bible says "All HAVE sinned, and fall short of the glory of God," and "the wages of sin is death."  But it does NOT say "All ARE sinners, and fall short of the glory of God."

I trust this helps.  I know a LOT of Christians will tell me I'm wrong, but the Scriptures tell me otherwise.

  14. True

    God Bless

  15. ok

  16. Rom 5:12   When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

Rom 5:13   Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. And though there was no law to break, since it had not yet been given,

Rom 5:14   they all died anyway-even though they did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. What a contrast between Adam and Christ, who was yet to come!

Rom 5:15   And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness. For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin. But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift.

Rom 5:16   And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but we have the free gift of being accepted by God, even though we are guilty of many sins.

Rom 5:17   The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over us, but all who receive God's wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:18   Yes, Adam's one sin brought condemnation upon everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness makes all people right in God's sight and gives them life.

Rom 5:19   Because one person disobeyed God, many people became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many people will be made right in God's sight.

Rom 5:20   God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful kindness became more abundant.

Rom 5:21   So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful kindness rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  17. Romans 5

12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned— 13for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. 14Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

18Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  18. Hello there curious atheist!!  I personally believe in original sin.  I believe that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God (the ability to get into heaven).  None of us are without sin.  We are born with a nature that actually craves sin and logic.  The bible calls this frame of mind "the flesh or fleshly desires".  This happened when sin entered our world and destroyed our freedom to commune with God our Creator.  I am not saying it is a sin to be logical, I am simply saying that the bible teaches almost the opposite of what seems logical to any human being.  For example, logic says to save money or things in order to increase.  The bible teaches, "Give and ye shall recieve, shaken down, pressed together and running over..."  In other words you will get it back multiplied when you give.  This is how you increase.
