  1. Yes there were other aircraft found and one family from the Northwest did find out what happened to a Cessna with their family member on board.  The NTSB out of Los Angles did close out a file on that case at least.

  3. The Civil Air Patrol and several other County and State agencies operating in the Sierras keep records of all known airplane crash sites in their areas of responsibility. It is my understanding that there were several previously unknown or unreported crash sites found during the extensive search, but none that could be determined to be recent, and not Steve Fossett's aircraft.
